In the automotive market, new energy vehicles have become a rising star, and every car company has launched their own new energy vehicles, which is enough to show that new energy vehicles are the trend and will inevitably enter thousands of households. However, every development process is always full of uncertainty, and there are always new problems waiting to be solved. Whether the subsidy policy for new energy is reasonable, how new energy can smoothly enter the market, and how to avoid new energy safety accidents... In the process of exploring and advancing, new energy vehicles have faced a series of problems thrown by the market. Now, the editor of the circuit board has learned that with the gradual fading of new energy subsidies, the influx of foreign enterprises, and the arrival of the marketization stage of new forces in car manufacturing, the market has raised a new question for new energy vehicle companies - can they make money by selling new energy vehicles?

The Double Heaven of Ice and Fire for Profit

Regarding the topic of whether the development of new energy vehicles can achieve profitability, new energy vehicle companies in the current era are writing their own answers through personal experience.

In October of this year, Dyson suddenly announced the termination of the car manufacturing plan, citing the reason that "the project is not commercially feasible". Before announcing this decision, Dyson had been involved in the automotive industry for four years and had continuously invested 18 billion yuan. Its first electric vehicle was originally expected to be launched in 2021. Dyson believes that making cars is not difficult, as it is difficult to find a suitable profit model. Analysts have pointed out that "Dyson's electric vehicles are expensive based on their cost estimates, making it difficult to find suitable and sufficient consumer groups." Coincidentally, NIO, which is still struggling in car manufacturing, has encountered the same problem as Dyson - weak profitability. Wei Lai Li Bin personally announced that as of June this year, Wei Lai has lost approximately 22 billion RMB. Affected by this, NIO's stock price once fell below $2, and now its subsidiary is also listed in the list of abnormal operations.

A few years ago, Li Bin, who had just entered the automotive industry, roughly estimated the cost of car manufacturing at 20 billion yuan. However, several years later, after burning 22 billion yuan, NIO is still struggling with user experience and still unable to find a "sustainable development path". If viewed solely from the business model of selling cars for profit, NIO seems to have fallen into a profit dead end. Since the batch delivery, NIO has delivered a total of 26215 vehicles. If calculated based on a loss of 22 billion yuan, it is equivalent to NIO losing 839200 yuan for each vehicle sold. Of course, circuit board manufacturers feel that this "single car loss" number is not of reference significance, but it can also reflect the current predicament of NIO from one side.
